About
During UB, when I had free time for some courses, I would use it to work on my thesis project and other projects from other art classes, such as sculpture, painting, graphic design, relief and letterpress, and photography. The professor gave us the senior thesis course time also to manage all the projects given to us by other art classes. However, during the senior thesis course, I thought up what I wanted to make for the senior thesis project: a three-tier sculpture of twelve paintings displayed on the sculpture. The theme of the sculpture will be the beauty of nature.
During the first half of my senior thesis course, I have been editing the photos I took for a photography class, making sculptures for my sculpture class, and painting in the painting studio. Editing pictures takes a lot of time when you are new, so I have mainly focused on the pictures. Also, during some other time in class, I would work on my writing for my other courses, such as my Image and Gender class and Science, Culture, and Emerging Media course. For these courses, I would need to watch videos, do some reading, and write about what I just watched and read.
In the second half of my senior thesis, I began to work on my thesis project fully. I still took more photography courses, a painting course, a relief and letterpress course, and a graphic design course. In the photography class, I took topographic photos, made a video about the ice and water near my house, and another video about my dog. Then, I took pictures of my classmates and their paintings for the last one. In the graphic design class, I made a step-by-step process of making egg rolls, some flower logos, and postcards using our artwork and designs. I did the same with the relief and letterpress course, transferring my drawings onto carving blocks and using relief ink to print them onto paper. The designs I made for the relief and letterpress course were of flowers, deserts, and bubbles. I also made a mermaid drawing, taking inspiration from the birth of Venus, and a fairy drawing using the prompt magic and fantasy. The painting class was similar to my senior thesis, and I got to do my own thing; I painted about technology, nature, and my ethnic background. The second half of my senior thesis was a bit busier, but it was also more fun.
During my free time at UB, when I had no classes, I also worked on drawings and paintings to distract myself from the bigger projects I was working on. Those mini projects were mostly done for fun but ones I like. Most mini arts used digital drawing apps, paper, and canvas for acrylic and watercolors. Some of these mini arts were also created from high school until I graduated from UB.
